YES Prep offers 1:1 technology for all students in grades K – 12. The Technology Use Policy has been developed to guide the appropriate use of technology by students and parents. Students and Parents must agree to the following terms to be allowed to use technology at YES. Use of the technology provided by YES is a privilege In order to maintain the privilege, families agree to this policy.
Students, when using YES Prep Devices, and services provided internally, or services provided by third parties must follow all student codes of conduct as referenced in the student handbook. Students will also be in violation of this policy if the use of technology is not in accordance with state and federal laws.
Privacy
Students shall understand that files, services, and devices provided by and managed by the school are not private. There is no expectation of privacy when students use the school district’s network, devices, and services, and anything they do can be viewed by the administration at any time.
Use Policy
When using email or other messaging methods, caution must always be taken with information of a personal nature.
Storage media and resources must only be used to store school information for student interaction for their education.
Students will understand that they may use a personal device. They will be required to provide information about their device to YES Prep to ensure it can function without disrupting others. This privilege may be limited or revoked.
YES Prep can make determinations and changes on whether specific network uses are consistent with the acceptable use practice and code of conduct. YES will notify all staff, parents, and students of any changes in this scenario.
Students shall not use their personal information or other students and staff electronically unless for valid learning activities necessary to carry out their education. Personal information directly identifies a person (e.g., name, address, social security number or other identifying number or code, telephone number, email address, etc.). This may include additional information such as gender, race, birth date, and locations.
Students shall not engage in plagiarism, copying, or distributing copyrighted material, without the express permission of the author or publisher is prohibited.
Students are prohibited from using YES devices, YES Property, or services for commercial methods unless authorized by staff.
Students shall not malevolently use the YES network to develop plans that harass other users or penetrate a computer or network. This includes methods of social engineering to obtain data or passwords belonging to other individuals within YES, or misrepresent other users on the YES network. This also contains unauthorized use of third-party software from YES contracted services are forbidden and software not approved by YES Prep.
YES Hardware or software shall not be destroyed, revised, or exploited in any way. This includes the use of files deemed malicious by networks (e.g., torrents) is prohibited.
This section outlines all the policies YES Prep follows due to federal and state guidelines. YES Prep has a educational interest in personally identifiable information from education records for purposes of reporting student data to local governments and protecting students.
TEA
The Texas Education Agency requires Standard Reports from YES Prep that meet general requirements for information concerning public education in Texas. Some of these reports comprise geographic information for each district and campus, while others contain listings of school districts or campuses by legislative districts. There are also reports that include information for high school graduates or information for student enrollment.
CIPA
YES Prep uses technology that filter or block access to depictions that are harmful to students as defined by the Children’s Internet Protection act. Any student who attempts to circumvent this technology will be subject to discipline in accordance with the code of conduct.
YES Prep may temporarily or permanently unblock access to sites containing appropriate material, if access to such sites has been inappropriately blocked by the technology protection measures. The determination of whether material is appropriate or inappropriate shall be based on the content of the material and the intended use of the material.
FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

Overview on How to Use Microsoft Teams and ClassDojo
During the weeks of August 31 and September 7, your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or tablet. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Reading and Mathematics. Imagine Learning is an adaptive literacy program for Pre K through sixth grade students. Through playing games and completing short lessons, students improve foundational skills, and teachers and administrators receive reports on student progress.

1. If your username and/or password is not working, please complete the YES Prep Student Support: YES Prep Account survey which is accessible through any internet browser, smart phone and computer. Your campus operations teams will reach out to you via phone once your password is reset.
2. If you are unable to complete the survey, please call your campus front office between 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for elementary students and 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for secondary students Monday through Friday for support.
Any student who is currently enrolled at YES Prep is eligible to download and install Office 365 Pro applications on up to 5 personal devices (PC, MAC and mobile device).
Students should follow the directions in the guides below to download and install Microsoft on their devices. If a student is using a YES Prep issued device, they do not need to download Office 365 Pro as it is already installed on the device.
1. Reach out to your Homeroom teacher via Microsoft Teams. Your Homeroom teacher will reach out to IT on your behalf and assist you with technical problems.
2. If you are unable to turn on your computer or have a black screen, please contact your campus front office.
Click on the Sign in with Azure AD button. Leave the username and password boxes empty.
2. Skyward will open the YES Prep single-sign on page.
Enter your YES Prep email and click Next. Enter your password, and click Sign In.
Note: If you have changed your password since August 1st, remember to enter your new password. If you have not yet changed your password, use the one your school gave you.
3. Click on the Schedule tile on the Skyward Student Dashboard.
4. You can view your schedule in an All Year view or Weekly view; use the drop-down menu at the top of the page to switch views.
5. Click on any of your courses to view additional details, including your teacher's name, email address, and class period.
6. You can print your schedule by click Print Schedule Matrix on the right side of the screen.
A signed Student Device agreement is required for all students as YES Prep transitions to 1:1 devices for all students. To access your students' Device Agreement, please login to Skyward with your username and password, select the 2020-2021 Student Device User tile and electronically sign and date the document.
